Explore the Wonders Near Vinisce: Day Trips to Unforgettable Destinations
When staying at Mar Escape Villa in Vinišće Croatia, you'll find yourself perfectly positioned to explore some of Croatia’s most remarkable destinations by car. Whether you're drawn to cultural landmarks, natural beauty, or family fun, there’s something for everyone just a short drive away.
You can combine some of the destinations below into a day trip. There is a lot to see driving north from Vinišće. Stop first in Rogoznica to glance into the spectacular Dragon's Eye lake and admire yachts at Marina Frapa. Go for a stroll all around Primošten, then head over to Šibenik
for a visit to the Cathedral of St. James and St. Michael Fortress.
Right before you reach Šibenik though, make sure also to stop at another
UNESCO heritage site, the Saint Nicholas Fortress, that scared off the turks in the 16th century (the waterway towards the fortress alone makes the visit worthwhile).
Reserve a whole day for a trip to the Krka National Park, where you can admire beautiful nature and breath-taking waterfalls. Before evening falls, head over to Zadar to watch the most beautiful sunset ever and to listen to the wind and waves create ethereal music thanks to the Sea Organ. Right next to the sea organ is another major attraction, Greetings to the Sun.
Driving to the south, the UNESCO protected old town of Trogir is a short 30 minutes drive away from Vinišće, where Mar Escape Villa is situated (and the drive itself is a pleasure, since you are following the stunning coastline and passing through charming little villages). On the same direction, just 30 minutes further from Trogir, is the beautiful city of Split, second largest town in Croatia and hub for traveling to some of the best-known Croatian islands (Brac, Korcula, Hvar or Vis). Explore the Old Town of Split with the famous Diocletian's Palace and enjoy coffee or lunch (or both) on the unrivaled Split Riva (promenade).
Take a whole day for a trip further south to the world-renowed Dubrovnik (three and a half hours drive from Vinišče if you take the highway), where you must walk the city walls for spectacular views (and highly instagrammable spots).
Here is a bit more about each of the cool places you can visit while staying at Mar Escape Villa in Vinišče Croatia.
A 30-minute drive from Vinišće will take you to Trogir, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This enchanting town is a labyrinth of cobblestone streets, historic stone buildings, and bustling squares. At its heart is the Cathedral of St. Lawrence, a stunning example of Romanesque-Gothic architecture, complete with a breathtaking view from its bell tower. Stroll along the waterfront promenade, lined with cafés and yachts, or explore Kamerlengo Fortress for panoramic views of the Adriatic Sea. With its blend of history and Mediterranean charm, Trogir is a must-visit. Park your car in the paid parking by the bus station, for easy 2 minutes walk access to the old town.
A
visit to Split, just 50 minutes by car from Mar Escape Villa Croatia, is a must
during your stay. As Croatia’s second-largest city, Split offers a
dynamic mix of ancient history and contemporary culture. The centerpiece
is Diocletian’s Palace, a sprawling Roman complex that feels like a
city within a city, filled with narrow streets, hidden courtyards, and
lively squares. Kids will enjoy climbing the bell tower of St. Domnius
Cathedral for panoramic views of the city, while adults can explore the
bustling Green Market or relax with a coffee along the Riva promenade.
After immersing yourself in Split’s rich history, enjoy a meal at one of the waterfront restaurants - our recommendation is Brasserie on 7 - and end it with the best ice-cream in town, at Emiliana.
Your Mar Escape Villa hosts, Mirela and Leonard, are also the owners of
one of the best handmade jewellery brands in Croatia - Break Time Nautical Bracelets .
Our atelier and flagship store is located in Trogirska 8, in Split old
town, so visit us for original nautical-inspired souvenirs for yourselves or to take back to family and friends, such as
anchor bracelets or sailing rope keyrings.
